Milan To Lake Como

Known for its luxurious retreats and fancy shore villas owned by a few celebrities such as: George Clooney & Madonna—Lake Como is still one of the better day trips available from Milan and reachable within just 45 minutes!

How to reach Lake Como:

There are two main train stations in Milan: Cadorna & Centrale FS with departures available every 40 minutes. Tickets cost €4.80 one way and can be purchased either online (recommended), at the ticket machines or through the vendors where the magazine stands are.

TIP: if you buy your tickets at the station, make sure to stamp them before departing each way to avoid any fines as they will be checked on board!

Things to do in Como:

Once you’ve reached Como we suggest taking a stroll around town where you can find a range of different local restaurants, shops & bars.

Our recommendations: Il Solito Posto & Osteria del Gallo.

Beaches & Boat Trips:

In Como, you can also spend the day by the pool in Lido Villa Olmo or swim around the shore enjoying the beach bar. Tickets must be booked online.

Alternatively, there are ferry & boat tours to help you tour the entire lake or reach different cities such as: Bellagio & Varenna.

Como To Brunate:

Head for the cable car, up to Brunate. Once there, you'll discover the small hiking path to the incredible, Volta Lighthouse.

Those who find the pathway and reach the top, will be rewarded with incredible views of the snow-capped alps, as well as the surrounding lowland lakes.

TIP: The hike up to the lighthouse takes approximately 30-minutes. Stop for a snack (or hot chocolate) at the cosy cabin-lodge on Via alle Colme.
