The Hidden Tunnels of Piazza Duomo

During routine inspections, building surveyors unearthed a secret passage, directly below the sculpture of Vittorio Emanuele II.

The secret passages, underneath Milans most famous square, remained buried and forgotten for over a hundred years, completely erased from the archives. The complex reaches an astonishing fourteen meters deep & dates back to 1894, presumably used for the last time by the secretive masons of Vittorio Emanuele II.

Beyond the tunnels themselves, hides a labyrinth of seven rooms with vaulted doors & reinforced ceilings, dating back to the end of the 19th century. Interestingly, the rooms are all connected to each other and lead back to the central shaft which was presumably accessible by the King and his closest confidants, maybe as a vault, a refuge, or something even more mysterious...
