how to get your marca da bollo
Chances are that at some point you will need a Marca Da Bollo stamp (or even a few!). These small postage-looking-stamps are used as a form of tax collection for public services that are otherwise VAT exempt.
You will usually be asked to attach one or more of these stamps to any documents you are submitting to the local authorities. The stamps are available in both €16 and €2 denominations therefore it is important to check which one is applicable for your specific document.
how to get it
Once you’ve understood the tax amount payable for the specific document you’re submitting, you can calculate how many stamps you’ll need; For example, the €32 requested to submit a residency document, would require X2 €16 Marca Da Bollo stamps.
Obtaining the stamps is very straight forward. You can visit almost any tobacco shop / newsagent in the city, who will be able to sell you the stamps in either denomination. Once you have your stamps, there’s a self adhesive backing so you can attach them directly to the associated documents.
